Product Details

This exquisite pinchbeck fancy link chain, dates to the Georgian era, and has some of the most beautifully engraved links i've ever come across. It is simply incredible detail, the likes of which you no longer see today.

The clasp of the chain, in very much the style of this era, is a hand on which an emerald (paste) bracelet is being worn. Its second finger is also wearing a diamond (paste) ring. Hands signified friendship and love in Georgian jewellery, so this chain comes with much romantic symbolism.

This rare and wonderful chain measures 16 inches long and 5mm wide. It weighs 23.68g.

This chain, and its clasp remain in exceptional condition given its age. Please have a look at the pictures and the video, and get in touch if you require any other information

A note about Pinchbeck: Christopher Pinchbeck, was born in Clerkenwell, England in the 1670s, and it was he who invented what became known as Pinchbeck, the eponymous alloy, and which was used as a subsitute for gold. At that time, pinchbeck because extremely popular as it opened up the jewellery market for people who could not afford to buy 18ct Gold.

Today, and as proven by how this chain looks more than 200 years later, you can see that it does not tarnish and looks must like gold. A fabulous and highly collectable substitue which wont break the bank, in details that you no longer see made today.
